John Springman was elected to the position of Branch 36 First Vice President in March, 1998 and reelected ever since. A 2001 bylaw change permitted John's title to become First Vice President / Treasurer. John started his career as a letter carrier in 1971 in Williamsbridge Station and was transferred in 1972 to Woodlawn. John follows in his father's footsteps. His dad was also a letter carrier in the Bronx. John was elected as a shop steward in Woodlawn Station in 1984 and remained until 1991 at which time he was appointed Employee Involvement Facilitator. John was appointed Hearing Officer in 1996, and shop steward of Kingsbridge Station in 1997. John has been on the Board of Directors of the Credit Union since 1985. One of John's duties as First Vice President / Treasurer is to assist Branch 36 members with compensation claims. |
