Biography
Frank M. Orapello became Branch 36 President on January 15,1992 after the retirement of Arty Ullman. Frank has been reelected president ever since and is one of the longest running Branch 36 presidents. Prior to becoming president, Frank served as Executive Vice President, Financial SecretaryITreasurer, and Recording Secretary. Frank started his career as a member of Branch 36 in 1951 as a letter carrier in Hellgate Station. Frank's postal career was interrupted by a stint in the Army serving in Korea and Japan. He returned to Hellgate Station and in 1959 transferred to Grand Central Station. Frank was a leading influence in the Postal Strike of 1970, which resulted in better wages and working conditions for all postal workers. Frank was also largely responsible for purchasing Branch 36's present headquarters-an investment that continues to reap benefits for Branch 36 members. Frank retired in January of 2007
